FAQ
I already installed OpenNode to Shopify. Why do I need to add OpenNode again?
Shopify is updating the way payment processors connect to its platform. This means that the old OpenNode payment gateway will no longer be supported. To avoid service interruptions, please update to the new OpenNode payments app as soon as possible.
What does my business need to do?
Any user with administrator access to your Shopify account must deactivate the old OpenNode gateway and update to the new OpenNode payments app.
Who can make the update?
Users with administrator access can make changes to your Shopify account.
What is changing for me as an OpenNode merchant?
Nothing is changing for you. Your existing OpenNode account, activity, and balance remain unaffected. The new app will work exactly the same from a merchant and payer perspective. However, once Shopify discontinues support for the old OpenNode payment gateway within the next few months, your customers will not be able to pay with Bitcoin through OpenNode until you update to the new app.
How long do I have to update?
The legacy Shopify payment gateway functionality will be decommissioned in the coming months. We strongly recommend updating to the new OpenNode app as soon as possible.
Why do I have two OpenNode payment options?
If you have two OpenNode payment options on your page, you have successfully installed the new OpenNode payments app. Nice work! Click the deactivate button in step 1 above to deactivate the old OpenNode payment gateway, and you'll be done with the update.
What happens if I don't deactivate the old gateway?
The old OpenNode payment gateway will be shown on your checkout page until deactivated.
